The Eco Committee back in January 2022 wrote to their local MLA’s and MP concerning the traffic measures on Sloan Avenue outside the school. We were delighted that Carla Lockhart (MP), Dolores Kelly (MLA), John O’Dowd (MLA) and Liam Mackle (Councillor) all took on the challenge to keep us safe. Our cause even reached the desk of Nichola Mallon who requested a survey of the road to be carried out.
After an initial setback, but then continued lobbying from Carla Lockhart, we were delighted to have been given the news this week that Carrick Primary School will soon be getting a pedestrian crossing.
We are thankful that the words of our children have been heard, and have effected change.
